Apart from the huge increase in graphics and sound, this game is truly immersive. Even more so when you start adding a few small applications to complement the game.
At my age you would think I would have known but my understanding on capacitors has been completely and utterly wrong.
It took a video from this guy Collin Cunningham to teach me what a capacitor really is and how it functions.
In fact, if you are new to electronics in any way, I can thoroughly recommend watching all of his videos. They contain clear and concise information which will leave you with enough understanding to search for the next level of knowledge. I purchased the Arduino Duemilanove and GSM shield back in 2011 with the sole intention of building an alarm system for my Garage. The method was quite simple. Use Arduino to sense for break-in using IR and magnetic operated (reed) switches and send text messages to a preset phone number . I also wanted to arm and disarm the system using text messages.
So my first test was to see if I could get the GSM shield to communicate with our phone provider which is O2 in the UK. Continue reading »
